Peoples' Friendship University of Russia named after Patrice Lumumba (RUDN) marked its 66th anniversary with a grand celebratory concert held at the Main Building’s Assembly Hall on February 6, 2026.
The event united students, alumni, faculty, staff, and distinguished guests to honor the university’s achievements and celebrate its vibrant international community.
Key Moments of the Celebration:
- Grand Opening: Speeches by RUDN President Vladimir M. Filippov and Rector Oleg A. Yastrebov set the tone for the evening.
- International Tributes: Diplomats, including H.H. Dr Koma Steem Jehu-Appiah, Ambassador of Ghana, and Mr. Elsirgani Mohamed Ibrahim Mohamed, Attaché of the Embassy of Egypt, addressed the guests
- Honors Ceremony: The title of Honorary Professor of RUDN was conferred upon Yerlan B. Sydykov, Rector of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, and university staff received awards from the Russian Ministry of Science.
- Alumni Recognition: Outstanding graduates from the Dominican Republic, Kenya, Colombia, Malaysia, Tanzania, India, Madagascar, and Guinea-Bissau were honored for their contributions to their fields and to strengthening international ties.
- Gala Concert: The “Student Rainbow of Talents” featured vibrant performances by RUDN’s creative teams, culminating in the RUDN Fashion Lab show “Continents on the Catwalk,” a vivid symbol of the university’s global spirit.
